How to remove the wood furniture from your AK. ////// These steps should work for any AK pattern rifle. You'll also get an overview of the standard field strip procedure and re-assembly process for those of you new to the lovely AK platform. As you can see, take down and reassembly is a breeze with this weapon system. Removing the wood fore-grips, gas-tube cover and rear butt stock is a little more involved but not too bad once you know a few simple steps. The AKM featured in this video is a semi-auto 7.62x39 WASR-10 GP10/63, equipped with a UTG double rail side mount, Barska reflex style red dot sight, and Houge finger groove pistol grip. The orginal Romanian wood has been refinished with Cabot Red Oak stain and many coats of wipe-on poly. Link to "WASR-10 (AK-47) Refinished " video: http://youtu.be/uW1JRxCw-ps

Jan 21, 2012 - Ironically, that's the original material I bought for the tree stand, but decided against because it was a little too transparent. I ended up keeping it with my zombie supplies and it finally found it's calling.

Jan 24, 2012 - Trust me I've been there with the whole posting to YouTube on a smartphone issue! Welcome in advance to the wonderful world of Romanian weaponry.

Feb 12, 2012 - Wow great vid, that wood looks great. Prob about as much time and money I want to put into a wasr. The wasr is what it is. I've seen some guys put more money in than what they paid, doesn't make sense. This is perfect.

Feb 12, 2012 - I originally bought my WASR to be a cheap-ass, but at this point you couldn't get me to trade it for an Arsenal (and that's NOT a jab against Arsenals, they're nice guns). There's just something about an AK that makes me want it to be a little gritty and old-school. It's kind of like tequilla, some things were just never meant to be high end :D

Apr 13, 2012 - Do the full sz AK and the C.I.A Ak pistol have the same furniture? I want to put some picatinny rails on my Ak pistol......
sintax77 Says:
Apr 13, 2012 - I honestly don't know for certain. But I can say that, personally, I've never seen an Century Arms AK variant come *stock* with anything other than the standard wooden furniture similar to what's seen in this video. (minus the refinishing and staining of course) I've seen after-market dust covers with rails that may be useful for your pistol if you want to avoid the extra bulk of the scope rail seen here.

May 8, 2012 - Cool video , very helpful . What color stain and dye did you use to refinish the furniture . I really like the way that looks and just bought my ak yesterday . So I'm definitely going to re do the wood .

May 8, 2012 - Oh never mind I just read the description

May 20, 2012 - some trunions, wont allow you to remove the wood, and require using a dremel tool or grinder to just completely remove itt after pins where punched out

May 21, 2012 - Great video I just bought a used Wasr-10 for $540 with 9 magazines and so far I've replaced the rear stock with a TAPCO AR collapsible one and also bought a 75 round drum.
sintax77 Says:
May 21, 2012 - I haven't gotten around to grabbing a drum mag yet, but it's on my short-list. Just waiting to see a good enough deal.
. . . . . . . because these video appear directly from youtube.com which we cannot control it.)

Jan 21, 2012 - Nice video, looks easy enough to so with some patience here and there. Cool looking camo background, that could also be use up in a tree stand as an elevated blind cover, but you wouldn't want to get the smell of oil and Break Free on it though if you were deer hunting now would we? Scent control.... Remind me to give you something else instead.
