Everything about this immaculate two-story renovated 1912 house - from the spotless white, red and black chef's dream kitchen to the light-washed, garden-themed upstairs master bedroom with its distant water views -- tells you that you have relinquished the cares of everyday life for an escape into relaxation, rejuvenation and fun. If a house could have a disposition, this one's would be "sunny." This is not the generic atmosphere of a motel or hotel; this is a home filled with personality and warmth. Sea otter memorabilia displayed throughout reflects the owner's love for these enchanting creatures, which can be seen frolicking off the nearby shoreline. The master suite has a queen bed. a small sitting area with white wicker furniture and distant ocean views. Additional sleeping space is provided by a pullout sofa in an adjacent office with pocket doors for privacy This space is perfect for smaller children. (All beds have down comforters and top-quality linen.) An armoire contains a TV, DVD and VHS player. There is a bathroom with tub/shower located off the master suite. The main floor features a large living room with a wood-burning fireplace, a large comfortable sofa and love seat and TV. The oversized couch can accommodate a child or an adult for overflow sleeping space. The guest bedroom off the living room features a queen-size bed and a bookcase full of inspirational reading material. The dining room can accommodate up to 12 seated at the table, and there are sliding glass doors out to a private enclosed deck with patio furniture and a BBQ grill. The stunning, recently updated kitchen is the heart of the home and the owner's passion. It is stocked with every cooking tool you could possibly need. There is a laundry room and a full bathroom with a separate bathtub and shower on the lower level. Among the house's other special features are a two-person hot tub (complete with spa robes) situated in the private patio; a hammock; an upstairs enclosed balcony for star gazing; a wood-burning fireplace in the living room; a dining room that seats 10-12; two cable TVs with sports channels, and a computer station that includes wi-fi, high-speed internet and a printer. Guests will be greeted with complimentary hors d'oeuvres, and sparkling cider, two aquarium passes, and a basket chock full of information about the area. Everything is provided, including oversized towels, lightweight portable chairs, an ice chest and more. The house is less than three blocks to the beach recreational trail that goes from Asilomar State Park past Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey and ends up in Moss Landing. The homegrown shops and restaurants of downtown Pacific Grove, billed as "the last hometown" for its quaint charm, are an easy five-block walk. The famed 17-Mile-Drive is only minutes away. Carmel with its many art galleries, gift shops and restaurants, is a 10 minute drive, as are historic Monterey and Fisherman's Wharf. Of course, the natural beauty of the area is available at every turn, but most notably in such areas as Point Lobos and the rugged Big Sur coastline, both short excursions. For an off-the-beaten path experience, check out Garland Regional Park in Carmel Valley or take a flatboat wildlife tour in Moss Landing, which has been designated a national refuge for birds.
